Bright Ideas for Candle Care
From the moment you untie the grosgrain ribbon around your candle and lift the silver lid, you have decisions to make. Do you place it prudently on the mantlepiece. No, the dining table. No, actually, the mantlepiece... Maybe you should have bought two?
A scented candle immediately lifts a space. Once you’ve found the perfect candle to add to your home, it’s important to take good care of it. So, how do you make sure it burns as beautifully as the day you bought it? We have an idea (or five) to help...
1. Light at the end of the tunnel (ling)
Uneven wax be gone. Allow the wax to melt and pool right to the edges of the candle the first time you light it – and hold that puff until it has. Very important. Try to burn it for long enough to allow for the wax to pool each time you use it to ensure an even burn and set the candle wax memory correctly.
2. Let it be
When the wick is first lit you might see a small amount of smoke. Don’t panic. It just needs a little time to draw up the wax properly.
3. Get on your wick
Say goodbye to sooty residue with some simple candle wick care. Snip to a quarter of an inch before every burn to make sure yours stays pristine and elegant at all times. Keeping the wick trimmed also helps to ensure an even burn. Our wicks are made from natural cotton and carefully chosen from a library of 300 options for the best burn and minimal sooting.
4. No smoke without...
To extinguish your beautiful new candle, place the lid provided over the flame and let it work its magic, or use a candle snuffer. Putting out the flame this way – rather than blowing it out – minimises smoke and allows the true scent of the candle to linger in the air.
5. Compelling combinations
What could be more delightful than the glow of one fragrant candle? Two, three, four, in different scents and sizes - from Travel Candles to our showstopping Luxury Candles. Arrange into a spectacular centrepiece for your next dinner party.
